Product description
"Sitaw red" refers to a type of long bean or yardlong bean, specifically a variety known as "red cowpea" or "red sitaw", which is a climbing herbaceous crop grown for its pods, shoots, and young leaves.
To plant red sitaw (yard-long bean), prepare the soil, choose the planting method (hill or drill), sow seeds, provide support for climbing plants, and ensure proper irrigation and pest control.
Choose the right soil: Clay loam or silty clay loam with good drainage is recommended.
Till the soil: Till the soil to a depth of 15-20 cm to prevent weed growth.
Add organic matter: Incorporate compost or other organic matter to improve soil fertility.
Hill Method: Plant 2-3 seeds per hill, with a distance of 30 cm between hills. Cover the seeds lightly with soil. Allow only 2 plants per hill.
Drill Method: Plant seeds at a depth of 2-3 cm.
Plant 15-18 seeds per linear meter, with 100 cm spacing between rows.
3. Planting Time and Spacing:
Planting Time: May to June for wet season planting, October to November for dry season planting.
Spacing: Follow the spacing recommendations for the chosen planting method (hill or drill).
If soil moisture is not sufficient during planting time, water the field immediately after planting to ensure uniform germination.
