Product description
Black Kardis" can refer to either Leaf Kardis Black boots, a pair of warm-lined, waterproof children's boots, or kadyos (pigeon pea), a popular legume in Filipino cuisine, sometimes translated as "black-eyed peas".
To plant pigeon pea seeds plant them 3/4 to 1 inch deep in late spring after soil temperatures have risen, spacing them 3 to 4 inches apart on raised beds (40 inches apart).
Late Spring: Plant pigeon pea seeds after the soil temperature has warmed up, typically in late spring.
Soil: Pigeon peas can tolerate a range of soil conditions, from acidic sands to alkaline clay, but they thrive in well-draining soils and cannot tolerate waterlogging.
pH: They prefer a pH range of 7 to 8.5.
Sunlight: Pigeon peas thrive in full sun, needing 6-8 hours of direct sunlight each day.
Depth: Plant seeds 3/4 to 1 inch deep.
Spacing: Place seeds 3 to 4 inches apart on raised beds which are 40 inches apart.
Ridge and Furrow: You can plant them in a ridge and furrow pattern, or sow them in zero tillage by dibbling around two inches deep to sow the seeds.
Soaking Seeds: Some people recommend soaking pigeon pea seeds in clean water (room temperature, 20-26 C) for 20 minutes before planting.
Watering: Ensure the soil stays moist, but not waterlogged, especially during the early stages of growth.
Mulch: Consider using mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Pest and Disease Control: Keep an eye out for common pests and diseases, and take appropriate action if necessary.
