If you love rice but don't want to consume carbs, let me tell you the secret to making the most delicious konjac rice that will get a thumbs up from your Asian friends!
Konjac rice (or magic rice) is made from konjac, a root vegetable that contains 97% water and 3% fiber.
It has a jelly-like, chewy texture.
If prepared properly, it is a flavorless food.
Shirataki rice changes its texture when frozen, so do not freeze products made from Shirataki!
How to prepare Miracle Rice before cooking
When you first open a package of Shirataki rice, you will smell an unpleasant odor, similar to that of Miracle Noodles. The best way to remove the odor is to rinse it under running water for a few minutes.
Drain the Shirataki rice in a colander and rinse under running water for about a minute.
Pour into a dry pan and stir over medium-low heat for a few minutes.
Watch carefully to make sure it doesn't burn.
For best results, do not add water or oil until dry.
Once most of the water has evaporated, add the olive oil, black pepper and salt.
Mix the ingredients together and cook for a few more minutes.
