Hydrangea is full of flowers, large and beautiful, and its color can be red or blue, which is pleasing to the eye. It is a common potted ornamental flower and tree. Modern parks and scenic spots are planted in patches to form landscapes.
Hydrangea cultivation method
1. Soil: The hydrangea is better in loose, fertile and well-drained sandy loam, but the change of soil pH makes the color of the hydrangea change greatly. In order to deepen the blue color, apply aluminum sulfate during the bud formation period to maintain the pink color. Lime can be applied to the soil.
2. Watering: The potting soil of hydrangea should be kept moist, but should not be watered too much, especially in rainy seasons should pay attention to drainage, to prevent waterlogging and causing rotten roots. It is better to dry indoor potted plants in winter. If it is too wet, the leaves are easy to rot.
3. Light: Hydrangea is a short-day plant, so it should be cultivated to avoid the hot sun, and 60-70% shade is the most ideal. In midsummer, when the sunlight is too strong, proper shade can prolong the flowering period.
4. Temperature: The suitable temperature for the growth of hydrangea is 18-28℃, and the temperature in winter is not lower than 5℃. Flower bud differentiation requires 6-8 weeks at 5-7℃. The temperature of 20℃ can promote flowering. Maintaining 16℃ after seeing flowers can prolong the flowering period. Pay attention to the high temperature that makes the flowers fade faster.
5. Fertilization: Hydrangea should be applied with thin pancake fertilizer once every 15 days or so. In order to keep the pot soil often acidic, it can be combined with adding 0.2% ferrous sulfate when applying liquid fertilizer to turn it into alum fertilizer. Add 0.5% superphosphate soaking solution for 1 to 2 times.
6. Pruning: After the hydrangea blooms, it is necessary to remove the flower stems to promote the production of new branches. Proper pruning can keep the plant shape beautiful. In early spring in March, the diseased and dead branches and delicate branches should be cut from the base, and 3 to 5 strong main branches should be kept and short cut, leaving 2 to 3 buds per branch.
7. Pests: Hydrangea mainly has wilt disease, powdery mildew and leaf spot, which can be controlled by spraying 600 times solution of 65% Zinc WP. Pests are harmed by aphids and bugs, and can be sprayed with 40% omethoate EC 1500 times liquid.
8. Changing pots: Hydrangeas generally need to be potted and soiled once a year, combined with potting to remove rotten roots, rotten roots and excessively long roots. After the plants are moved to the new pots, the soil should be compacted, and then watered thoroughly, placed in a shaded place for about 10 days, and then moved outdoors for normal management.
Make nutritious soil and put it into a planting box or vegetable planting pot.
Pour the nutrient soil thoroughly and sprinkle the seeds evenly on the soil layer, and then cover it with a little nutrient soil, about 0.5-1 cm thick.
The suitable temperature for germination of most seeds is 10-30 degrees. If the temperature is not reached, it can be wrapped in plastic wrap to keep it moisturizing and keep it warm. The seeds should be removed in time after germination.
The germination time of the seeds is long or short, about 3-15 days to germinate.
Before the seeds germinate, keep the soil moist, but do not sprinkle too much water or accumulate water. Sprinkle water about 4-7 days before germination.
After budding, place it on the balcony where there is direct sunlight, and it must be ventilated. If the seeding is too dense, pull out the small ones.
