Nursery Maintenance
Care for your young seedlings will require regular watering (daily in the summer months and 3-4 times a week in periods of no rain outside of summer.)
Weeding the plants regularly and protecting them from pests and stray animals will also ensure the health of the trees you will be planting. Proper shading will also be necessary depending on the age of the young trees and the time of the year. In their first 2-3 months, partial shade will be ideal, before gradually moving them to areas with full sun.
Mangrove and mangrove associates will be ready for planting in the regeneration site within 3-4 months of nursery care. On the other hand, beach forest species will be best to keep in the nursery for 6 months to a year.
