Rose (scientific name: Rosa sp.): It is a general term for some plants of the genus Rosa, which mainly refers to the varieties and horticultural varieties of the vine rose. Most of them are small flowers of a kind of vine-like hedge climbing, which are deciduous shrubs native to China with strong variability. The stem spines are large and generally have hooks, approximately 3 or 4 per node; the leaves are alternate, odd-pinnately compound leaves, 5-9 leaflets, leaf margins with teeth, and the leaves are flat but pilose. The flowers are often in the family of 6-7, with a conical corymb inflorescence, born on the top of the branches, with a flower diameter of about 3 cm, and only bloom once a year. The rose flower disk surrounds the mouth of the calyx tube and has many colors such as white and yellow. After the flower fades, the sepals will fall off; the fruits are round spheres.
It is hardy, has wild and many horticultural varieties, and can be reproduced by layering or grafting. Rose can be used medicinally, and the rose porridge made from it has good nutritional value. Mainly distributed in the temperate, subtropical and tropical mountainous regions of the northern hemisphere.
Growth habit
The rose likes sunlight, is tolerant to half shade, and is more resistant to cold. It can live through the winter openly in most parts of northern China. The soil requirements are not strict, drought-tolerant, and barren tolerant, but it grows better when planted in deep, loose, fertile, moist, and smooth-draining soil, and it can also grow normally on heavy soil. Not tolerant to water and humidity, avoid standing water. It has strong sprouting, pruning resistance and pollution resistance. The flowering period is generally from April to September each year, and the blooming sequence can last up to half a year. Due to global warming caused by the greenhouse effect, roses in some places begin to bloom as early as April or even March.
Climbing Rose seed planting method
1. Selection and accelerating germination: The seeds of the rose flower should be accelerated before sowing. Reasonable germination can increase its germination rate. It is recommended that the drug should be soaked first, which can improve disease resistance and eliminate germs on the seed coat. Change the water after the medicine is soaked, and take it out after the seed coat is soaked softly.
2. Preparation of soil: Rose does not require very high soil requirements, even if the soil is sticky, it can grow normally. But for pot planting, it is best to add leaf soil and river sand to the garden soil. The selected soil layer for ground planting is deep, loose, and fertile substrate for sowing. This kind of soil is conducive to later growth.
3. Sowing into the soil: Planting can be planted after the soil is ready. When planting, place its seeds directly on the surface of the soil. After laying it down, cover it with 1 cm thick sandy soil, then place it in a place with astigmatism, water it appropriately, let the soil have a certain amount of moisture, and seedlings will emerge soon.
