Product description
1. Before using Custard Apple seeds to cultivate seedlings, first put them into clean water and rub them continuously, take out the mucous membrane outside the seed coat, then soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours, remove them and drain them before sowing. (You can also soak the seeds in gibberellin solution to promote seed germination and growth)
2. Prepare planting containers and soil
To grow custard apples, you'll need a spacious planting container and suitable growing soil. Choose a large pot or container with a diameter of at least 30 cm, and make sure there are drainage holes in the bottom of the container so excess water can drain away smoothly.
The best soil for growing custard apples is loose, fertile, and well-drained soil. You can create the right soil for custard apples by using peat moss mixed with leaf mold, sand, and plenty of organic fertilizer.
3. Sowing Custard Apple Seeds
Fill the planting container with soil, leaving enough space for the seeds to grow. Gently bury the seeds into the soil and tap the soil lightly to firm it up. Make sure the seeds are buried not too deeply but have enough soil to cover them.
4. Provide suitable environmental conditions
Custard apples like warm and moist conditions. Make sure the planting container is placed indoors or in a sunny outdoor location to ensure the plants get enough sunlight. Also, keep the soil moist but not too wet to avoid root rot caused by too much moisture.
Custard apple has high temperature requirements, and the optimal growth temperature is 25 to 30 degrees Celsius. If the ambient temperature is cooler, consider using a heat lamp or other heating device to provide additional heat.
5. Water and fertilize regularly
Maintaining the right soil moisture is very important for the growth of custard apples. Water regularly, but avoid overdosing, which can lead to root rot. At the same time, organic fertilizers are regularly applied during plant growth to provide adequate nutrients.
Custard apples typically require fertilizing every two weeks during the growing season. You can choose an organic fertilizer of moderate concentration and fertilize according to the instructions. Remember, overfertilizing can have negative effects on your plants.
6. Prune custard apple plants regularly
Timely pruning is an important step in promoting the growth of sugar apple plants. You can prune unnecessary branches and leaves to keep the plant healthy and tidy.
When pruning, make sure to use sharp, clean scissors to avoid damaging the plant. In addition, regular pruning can promote the growth of more side branches and increase fruit production.
7. Wait for the fruit to ripen
Custard apples typically require a long growth cycle to produce mature fruit. Specific growing times will vary depending on climate conditions and variety. But usually, you need to be patient and wait 6 to 12 months to see the fruit ripen.
When the fruit matures, its outer skin will turn from green to yellow and it will emit a rich aroma. At this point, you can gently pick the fruit and taste its deliciousness.
Custard apple is a tropical fruit with harsh planting conditions, requiring a high temperature, high humidity climate and sufficient sunlight. Here’s how to grow sugar apples:
1. Soil selection: Custard apple has relatively high soil requirements. It likes loose, fertile and well-drained soil. The best pH value is between 6.0-6.5.
2. Temperature and humidity: The suitable growth temperature of sugar apple is 20-35℃, and the suitable growth humidity is about 80%. In summer, you need to pay attention to shading to prevent high temperature baking.
3. Planting methods: Two methods, seeding and grafting, can be used. Before sowing, the seeds need to be soaked in warm water for about 12 hours, then soaked in a liquid containing growth hormone, and then sown after the seeds germinate. Grafting involves grafting custard apple buds onto other trees to increase the survival rate and yield of fruit trees.
4. Maintenance method: Custard apple needs sufficient sunlight, water and nutrients. Water 2-3 times a week. Fertilization requires different fertilizers according to different growth periods. Use nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers in spring and summer, and organic fertilizers in autumn.
5. Pest and disease control: Custard apples are susceptible to attacks by pests and germs such as anthracnose, fruit flies, aphids, etc. Timely prevention and control measures need to be taken, such as regular spraying of insecticides, fungicides, etc.
In short, the cultivation of sugar apples requires attention to issues such as soil, temperature, humidity, planting methods, maintenance methods, and pest and disease control. Only by making preparations in these aspects can we obtain a bumper harvest of fruits.
