Product description
Epsom salt, also known as magnesium sulfate, can be used to treat certain fish illnesses, but it should not be used as a substitute for sodium chloride:
A potentially fatal condition that causes fluid retention, bloating, and raised scales. To treat dropsy, you can isolate the sick fish in a separate tank and add 1/8 teaspoon of Epsom salt for every 19 liters of water.
Epsom salt can help relax a fish's muscles so they can flush out undigested food. Treatment usually lasts 2–3 days, but can be as long as 5–6 days.
Epsom salt can help relieve stress caused by osmotic imbalance, which can lead to diseases like stomach bloat and mild dropsy.
Here are some tips for using Epsom salt with fish:
•Do not use aquarium salt or any other type of sodium to treat a fish with dropsy, as it can make the condition worse.
•Leave the salt in the aquarium until the fish looks healthy, then remove it by doing a water change.
•At the end of treatment, do a 30% water change without adding any salt and then wait a week for observation.
•High or long doses of Epsom salt can be bad for fish.
