Is Borax Safe to Use on Plants?
In very small doses it is safe for plants. Be very careful when using on plants because large amounts can be very harmful and even kill your plants. Mix 1 tablespoon diluted in 1 gallon of water sprayed on 100 square feet of soil. Small amounts will not only prove to be safe but will also help your plants overcome boron deficiency and help fight against diseases such as root rot.
Borax in the usual form of sodium tetraborate decahydrate is not acutely toxic, which means a large amount would need to be inhaled or ingested to produce health effects. As far as pesticides go, it's one of the safest chemicals available.
To Kill Weeds:
The recommended amount to use to kill weeds is 1 cup of borax dissolved into 2 gallons of water. Use this mixture with the help of a spray bottle to target the roots of the weed you are planning to get rid of. Be careful as to not get any of this high concentrated borax solution near your beautiful plants.
