Growing environment of winged beans

1. Temperature: The suitable temperature for winged beans must be above 20 degrees, the average temperature is 25 degrees, and the maximum temperature should not be above 35 degrees. If the temperature is too high at noon in summer, appropriate shade should be provided.

2. Lighting: Winged beans are a tropical vegetable crop that has high lighting requirements, especially sufficient lighting time, which requires 11-12 hours a day. Insufficient light will cause poor growth. However, during the flowering and pod-bearing stage, the lighting time can be appropriately reduced, otherwise it will be prone to late maturity.

3. Moisture: Winged beans have developed root systems, are heat and drought resistant, and do not like water; but they like moisture; and they need enough water during the flowering and fruiting stage to ensure yield.

4. Soil: Winged beans do not have high soil requirements, but try to choose well-drained and fertile land to ensure high yields.

Winged bean planting and management technology

1. Land preparation and fertilization: Deeply plow the land and apply 3,500 kilograms of decomposed farmyard manure per acre as base fertilizer; then make ridges with a height of 20 to 25 cm and a width of 60 cm.

2. Sowing and raising seedlings: Soak the seeds in water at about 50 degrees for 1 to 2 days before sowing. Dig planting holes according to a certain spacing between rows, usually 30 cm between plants and 50 cm between rows. Sow two plants in a single hole, with two or three seeds in each hole. Then water and mulch.

3. Seedling management: In the seedling stage of winged beans, three times of cultivating and weeding are required, and finally the soil is cultivated; during this period, 8 kilograms of urea can be applied per acre to promote growth. And pay attention to the observation that the weather is prone to dryness in summer, so you can water it appropriately to keep the soil moist. If you encounter rainy days, drain it in time. When flower buds appear, topdress in time with 30 kilograms of superphosphate per acre, and spray foliar fertilizer every 10 days during the pod-bearing period.

4. Pruning and setting up a frame: Before the winged beans sprout vines, it is necessary to use small bamboo poles or other tree poles to set up a triangular frame with a height of 1.5 meters to ensure that the bean vines climb up the frame evenly. And in the early flowering period, you need to pick the leaves in time to allow them to branch; in the middle and late stages, when the bean vines cover the support, you need to thin the branches and remove the leaves to avoid the leaves being too dense and affecting the light.

5. Disease prevention and control: Viral diseases are prone to occur due to high temperatures in summer, so prevention must be carried out in advance. Method: Spray 1.5% Phytopathogen emulsion mixed with water 1:1000, or 1% mushroom proteoglycan aqueous solution 1:300 mixed with water, once a week, spray 2-3 times continuously. Then add organic fertilizer and timely watering and top dressing to ensure normal growth.
