1.1000 seeds can be sown 3 square.
2. Can be planted in spring, summer, early autumn; potted plants can be planted at a suitable temperature in all seasons;
3. Cover the soil no more than 1cm after sowing, keep the soil moist until germination;
4. Apply basal fertilizer before sowing. Topdressing should be applied every two weeks during the growth period, mainly nitrogen fertilizer; phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be used in the bud stage, and the amount of fertilizer should be appropriate;
5. When potting, the soil is required to "see dry see wet". In spring and summer, water once in the morning and evening; for ground planting, watering generally follows the principle of "Not dry not watering, and watering must be watered thoroughly".
Note: Zinnia likes water and fertilizer, and likes light; insufficient water and fertilizer, or more tubular flowers under short-day sunlight, that is, more single-petal flowers.
Before sowing, the soil and seeds must undergo strict disinfection treatment to prevent pests and diseases during the growth period. Sowing can be done from early April to late June. Seeds are soaked in 1% potassium permanganate solution for 30 minutes. The substrate is mixed with 2 parts hummus, 1 part river sand, 2 parts peat and 2 parts perlite, and it can be disinfected with 0.05% potassium permanganate or 1000 times formaldehyde, and the soil can be fumigated at high temperature to kill germs, pests and grass seeds. Before planting, the substrate is moistened and then planted on demand. Zinnia is a photophobic flower seed, and it must be covered with a layer of vermiculite after planting. At a temperature of 21-23℃, it can germinate in 3-5 days. No light is needed during the germination period. After germination, the seedbed maintains a water content of 50%-60%, and it should not be too wet to avoid root rot or damping-off.
The sowing date can be determined according to the flowering time, and it takes about 75-90 days from sowing to flowering. Seeds can be sown or broadcast on demand, covering about 1 cm of thin soil, watering after sowing, germinating 7-15 days after sowing, and transplanting once when the seedling grows 2 leaves and is 5-8 cm high. It takes 45-60 days from planting to flowering, depending on the variety, and the optimum temperature for growth is 15-30℃. Except for seedlings that need to be shaded and protected from rain, all need sufficient sunlight. When planting in a flowerpot, the soil can be mixed evenly with 3 parts of humus soil, 1 part of sawdust, and 1 part of river sand.
