             It is a coined terminology to describe the special function of one of our hero ingredients.

          This material is a unique skin-identical carbohydrate complex similar in composition to the endogenous carbohydrate in the NMF (Natural Moisturizing Factor). It binds to the skin like a magnet and cannot be washed-off easily, therefore mimics the skin’s natural ability to lock in moisture; even under washing and showering conditions.

        The science behind: healthy skin is rich in NMF, a natural blend of water-soluble compounds found only in the stratum corneum. They absorb water from the atmosphere, allowing the outermost layers of the stratum corneum to stay hydrated despite exposure to the elements. However, because NMF is composed of water-soluble components, they easily leached from the cells through water contact like washing and showering – which is why repeated contact with water makes the skin drier. This special ingredient is made into a skin-identical sugar complex similar to the carbohydrate complex found in the NMF. It retains moisture by binding itself to free Ԑ-amino groups of lysine found in the keratin of the stratum corneum. This gives it a unique substantivity and affinity to the stratum corneum. Because it binds to the keratin it cannot be washed off easily; it is only removed through the natural process of desquamation. Thus, this material, therefore, generates a moisture reservoir, making it a highly effective moisture regulator even under washing and showering conditions.
