*Note that 3.5 liters do not exactly equal 3.5 kilograms of oil as the density of cooking oil is about 0.88 g/mL. Therefore, 3.5 liters of oil is around 3.1 kilograms.
*Our coconut oil is extracted from the meat of the coconut. It is first refined, bleached, and then deodorized (RBD) to make it suitable for food applications.
*It's processed without involving solvents or other chemical processes.
*Our coconut oil is refined from pure organic coconut. It has a neutral smell compared to virgin coconut oil (VCO). It's mainly for cooking but can also be used for other purposes.
How can RBD coconut oil be organic?
To put it simply, our coconut oil is made from a natural source – organic coconut.
These coconuts are grown without the use of pesticides and have not been genetically modified.
Furthermore, only the meat is used in making the oil and not the shell itself.
While the words refined, bleached, and deodorized imply the use of chemicals, our coconut oil doesn’t use harsh chemicals like lye to remove impurities - this process is commonly called organic refining.
The first step of organic refining is the utilization of citric acid to remove impurities. The oil will then be filtered through activated carbon and a filtration aid that will eliminate more impurities along with color/pigment compounds. Finally, it is deodorized through the use of steam at high temperatures and a vacuum to remove scent/flavor compounds as well as free fatty acids and peroxides that are naturally present in the unrefined oil.
