Product description
An ignition switch is an essential component in a vehicle's ignition system. It is used to start and stop the engine and control various electrical systems within the vehicle.
The ignition switch is usually located on the steering column or dashboard and is activated when the key (or, in modern vehicles, a key fob) is inserted and turned.
The ignition switch performs several functions:
Off: When the key is in the "Off" position, the engine is not running, and all electrical systems are shut off.
Accessory (ACC): In the "Accessory" position, power is provided to certain electrical accessories, such as the radio and power windows, without starting the engine.
On (Run): Turning the key to the "On" position powers the vehicle's electrical systems, including the fuel pump and other accessories, but the engine is not running yet.
Start: When the key is turned to the "Start" position, it activates the starter motor, which then cranks the engine and initiates the combustion process, starting the engine.
Ignition Lock: In many vehicles, when the key is removed from the ignition switch, the steering wheel can be locked to prevent unauthorized use of the vehicle.
