What is the best way to use this book?

The recommended way to use Chess Tactics for Students is as follows:

• Review the use of short algebraic notation on pages viii and ix.

• Assign the first 5 problems of each chapter as an overview to all 13 tactics .

• Use the Student Log on page 228 and to check each student's abi lity leve l .

• Have each student correct the problems they've done i n the overview.

• After students have completed the overview, have them work throug h the book,

chapter-by chapter.

• On a chapter-by-chapter basis, have students record their prog ress on the Student

Log , provided on page 228 .
