Product description
Iodosrb Powder is a sterile dark brown powder consisting of cadexomer (modified starch microbeads) with iodine. The cadexomer beads are biodegradable. It will remove excess exudate and slough from the wound bed and reduce bacteria at he wound surface. In doing this , it transforms into a soft moist gel.
It is indicated for the topical treatment of chronic exuding wounds.
It can be used under compression therapy.
Iodosorb powder may be used on infected wounds.
The infection should be inspected and treated as per local clinical protocol
should not be used on dry necrotic tissue or on patients with a known sensitivity to iodine or any of the other components.
Do not use the iodosorb powder on children, pregnant women or lactating people with renal impairment or thyroid disorders.
There is potential risk of interaction with lithium, resulting in an increased of hypothyroidism. Do not use powder concomitantly with mercurial antiseptics or taurolidine. If the patient is about to undergo thyroid function test s, they should inform the doctor.
Do not used powder in the vicinity of the ears, eye, mouth and nose.
It may cause a slight transient pain in the first hour after treatment. This is the sign that the product is beginning to clean the wound.
If symptoms persists, consult your doctor.
Contact with skin around the wounds should be minimized.
