Cherryl Expectorant is a combination cough and cold medication that provides relief from respiratory congestion and cough associated with excessive mucus production. It contains Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochloride, a nasal decongestant that helps reduce swelling in the nasal passages, and Guaifenesin, an expectorant that loosens and thins mucus, making it easier to expel.
Indications:
Cherryl Expectorant is used for the symptomatic relief of:
•Cough with thick mucus associated with respiratory tract infections
•Nasal and sinus congestion due to the common cold, flu, or allergies
•Chest congestion and difficulty in mucus expectoration
•Upper respiratory conditions such as bronchitis and sinusitis
Dosage and Administration:
Use as directed by a healthcare professional.
Adults and children 12 years and older:
•10 mL (2 teaspoons) every 6 hours, not to exceed 40 mL in 24 hours.
Children 6 to 12 years old:
•5 mL (1 teaspoon) every 6 hours, not to exceed 20 mL in 24 hours.
Children 2 to 6 years old:
•2.5 mL (½ teaspoon) every 6 hours, not to exceed 10 mL in 24 hours.
•Shake well before use.
•Take with or without food.
•Use the provided measuring cup for accurate dosing.
Mechanism of Action:
•Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochloride: Acts as a sympathomimetic agent that constricts blood vessels in the nasal passages, reducing swelling and congestion.
•Guaifenesin: Helps to thin and loosen mucus in the airways, facilitating easier expulsion through coughing.
Contraindications:
Do not use if the patient has:
•Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
•Severe hypertension or cardiovascular disease
•Hyperthyroidism, diabetes, or glaucoma
•Prostatic hypertrophy leading to difficulty urinating
•Taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) within the past 14 days
Precautions:
•Use with caution in patients with heart disease or high blood pressure.
•Avoid use in children under 2 years without medical advice.
•Do not exceed the recommended dosage to prevent adverse effects.
•Discontinue use if symptoms persist for more than 7 days or worsen.
•May cause drowsiness; avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.
