“Om Mani PadMe Hum” (derived from Sanskrit) is the most widely-known and popular mantra used in Buddhism. This six syllable phrase which can be transliterated to "Hail the Jewel in the Lotus" is an invocation mantra of the Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Infinite Compassion who protects one from harm. The Bodhisattva vowed to free all sentient beings from suffering and is said to appear anywhere to help all beings in danger and distress. Om Mani PadMe Hum is also referred to as "The Mantra of Universal Protection". If one were to uphold the recitation of this mantra, regardless of one's whereabouts, one will be protected by all the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, as well as gods, dragon and others of the eightfold division. It is able to cut off one's ignorance and open up one's wisdom; subdue demons and heal illnesses; dispel calamities and lengthens life; bestows immeasurable blessings and wisdom, and gain profound tranquility. It can save and alleaviate hundreds and thousands of suffering and difficulty. The Tiger Eye crystal is a very protective stone originating from Africa. The Africans believe that it has the power to drive away negative energy, such as those which arise from the use of black magic and various traditional curses (especially when on long journeys). With the Tiger’s Eye by your side, you will be able to feel more peaceful; this is useful for those who are plagued by inner inconsistencies.
