Nitrile gloves are the hand protection of choice when handling chemicals such as permanent hair dyes. It can shield the wearer against the toxicity of color dyes for up to an hour. The best gloves for working with hair dye are nitrile disposable gloves. Nitrile material (a synthetic rubber) is the most resistant to the chemicals found in hair dye. Latex gloves are also acceptable if there are no latex allergies. Vinyl gloves are not especially resistant to the chemicals in hair dye. The added protection offered by nitrile disposable gloves for hairdressers more than makes up for the slight loss in touch sensitivity compared to latex gloves.
