The light arrived not fully charged. Keep them fully charged in direct sunlight. Make sure to charge for at least 6 hours during the day.
The panel must be in a dark/dim environment to turn on the light. When the ambient brightness falls below 10 lux, the indicator light will automatically turn on. (If you want to open it in a brighter environment, just cover the solar panel after charging.)
When you're about to charge your string lights, make sure it's turned on. Then it will automatically absorb.
